How to reach the Dolomites …

… and the Friedrich FAQs

Whether you’ve already booked or are still thinking about it: here, you’ll find everything you need to know about how to reach the Dolomites and Friedrich.

Friedrich is located in Welschnofen in the Val d’Ega/Eggental valley, nestled between Mt Catinaccio/Rosengarten and Mt Latemar, in a quiet spot yet still close to the village centre. From Bolzano, it takes just under half an hour to reach us by car. When you turn into Via Pretzenberg (Pretzenbergerweg in our native German) and see Friedrich, you’ll feel the corners of your mouth turn up in a smile.

By car

Leave the Brenner motorway at the Bolzano Nord exit and continue along the SS241 towards Lake Carezza/Karersee and Welschnofen. After about 25 kilometres, you’ll reach Welschnofen. As you enter the village, turn left onto Via Roma (Romstrasse), pass the church, then turn right onto Via Pretzenberg (Pretzenbergerweg). Friedrich is waiting for you at the end of the street. Free parking is available right outside the hotel.

By train

The nearest train station is Bolzano central station. From there, the public bus will bring you to Welschnofen. If you let us know your arrival time, we’ll help you arrange your transfer to us.

By plane

The nearest airport is Bolzano (26km). Alternatives include Innsbruck (approx. 120km) or Verona (approx. 180km) airports.

Don’t forget

Hiking boots with a good sole are a must-have in your luggage, whatever the season. You’ll also need high-factor sun cream, as the sun is strong at 1,200 metres above sea level, in both summer and winter. A jacket for the evening, because the air in the Dolomites gets so wonderfully crisp after sunset. And a book for the balcony, in case you’ve got a quiet hour between the mountain and your taste-bud-igniting dinner.

If you have any questions that aren’t answered here: drop us a line or give us a call.
