The guardians of the Friedrich fire

Many people work at Friedrich. And behind them all is a family that has been running the hotel for generations and continues to add to its story with every passing season. Some of us are in the kitchen, some you’ll find at the table, and some seem to be everywhere at once. We’re loud and quiet, thoughtful and spontaneous, and we argue (sorry: we debate) about the wine list just as passionately as we do the hiking route to Lake Carezza/Karersee. What unites us: we have a burning passion for this hotel. And you can taste it, feel it, and hear it the moment you walk through the door.

Katja and Christof

Christof is Friedrich’s rock. He knows what he wants and which direction Friedrich should head in, and he takes the time to think every decision through thoroughly – whether that’s renovating a room or which farmer the meat on your plate comes from. For him, good food can only be made from ingredients he knows and trusts. In the kitchen, he’s calm, precise, and fully focused. And he loves his work; you can often hear him laughing loudly with Konstantin in the kitchen.

Katja is the dancing flame of the hotel. She loves chatting with you, making spontaneous wine recommendations at the table, and that moment when you arrive and she senses: you need a bit of peace and quiet – or an aperitif. Her heart beats for sustainability in the truest sense, for wellness, for health, and for ensuring that everyone who stays here feels welcome. While Christof keeps the spark alive, Katja brings the shine.

Konstantin and Annalena

The next generation has long been tending the Friedrich flame. Konstantin is in the kitchen with his father, and when the two of them cook together, sparks of enjoyment fly. He brings fresh ideas and a respect for what Christof has created. Annalena carries on the tradition of service at Friedrich, combining her mother’s warmth with her own keen sense of what guests need before they even ask.

Grandma Rita and Grandpa Friedrich

And then there are the two people without whom Friedrich would be unthinkable. Grandma Rita is in the kitchen and prepares the afternoon snack; her strudel and cakes are legendary among regular guests. Grandpa Friedrich potters about the hotel – helping out here, having a chat at the bar there, and perhaps even having a tipple now and then. You’ll keep bumping into them – at breakfast, in the garden, and on the terrace in the afternoon. They’re living proof that this place gets its warmth from real people.
