Now that’s a hotel with an infinity pool in the Dolomites

First things first:

the LOW MARINE outdoor infinity pool is heated all year round. Welschnofen lies below you, and the Dolomites are so close you feel like you could almost reach out and touch them with your wet fingers. You’re either swimming lengths or just enjoying a leisurely float. Whatever you want from a hotel with an infinity pool in the Dolomites: the Friedrich pool is waiting here at 1,182 metres above sea level to give you just that.

Empty wooden sauna with benches and headrests

Your hotel with sauna in the Dolomites

ALTA’s glass front lets you gaze out at the Dolomites. The Finnish sauna brings the heat, while the scent of herbs fills the steam room next door. The infrared cabin uses deep heat to promote a profound sense of relaxation, and between sessions, the relaxation room and its tea bar await. In summer, the sunbathing lawn joins Friedrich’s peaceful repertoire.

The floor you walk on barefoot from the pool to the sauna is made of silver quartzite. This natural stone from the Val di Vizze/Pfitschtal valley in South Tyrol is beautiful and energising – just what you’d hope to find at a hotel with an infinity pool in the Dolomites.

Moon-phase wood, heat, peace: at our hotel with sauna in the Dolomites

Moon-phase wood sounds a little esoteric, but it’s actually a craft. Trees felled during the waning moon, when the sap level in the trunk is at its lowest. The wood becomes denser, stronger, and more durable. The ALTA panoramic sauna at Friedrich is made from it, as are the relaxation room and the beds in the suites.

Infinity pool overlooking mountains on a sunny clear day

The extraordinary water at this hotel with infinity pool in South Tyrol

The water in the carafes at the tea bar, by the pool, and in the relaxation room comes from WEM Living Water, a system that revitalises tap water. It tastes smooth and is good for you.

And then there’s that moment. You’re lying by the pool, the water drying on your arms, the sun slowly travelling above the peaks, and suddenly you realise that your mind has been completely still for the last 20 minutes. No thinking about work. No compulsive reaching for your phone. All that matters is the warmth, the vastness, and the gentle lapping of the water as it flows over the edge of the infinity pool.

If you’re ready to move deeper into relaxation, experts are waiting to pamper you with selected treatments. Or you can just stay exactly where you are. Whatever choice you make, it’ll be the right one.

FAQs about your hotel with infinity pool in South Tyrol

What is salt electrolysis and why no chlorine?

The pool water at your hotel with an infinity pool in South Tyrol passes through an electrolysis cell, which sterilises the slightly salty water without the use of any chemical additives. The salt content is seven times lower than that of seawater. The result: soft water that doesn’t sting your eyes, doesn’t dry out your skin, and smells of nothing but water.

Is the pool open in winter, too?

Yes, because it’s heated all year round.

Opening times: from 7.30 a.m. in summer and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in winter. If you want to take a dip in the morning during winter, dial 9 on the telephone in your room, and we’ll open the pool for you. Only heating the pool when you need it helps us protect the environment.

What exactly is silver quartzite?

A natural stone from the Val di Vizze/Pfitschtal valley in South Tyrol. It stores heat and releases it into your body. Silver quartzite is used as flooring throughout the spa area at Friedrich. Walking on it barefoot feels warmer than walking on tiles, more earthy, as if the floor is giving something back to you. Friedrich is one of five businesses worldwide that work with this stone. This makes the Friedrich a special hotel with a sauna in the Dolomites.

What is moon-phase wood and why is the sauna made from it?

Moon-phase wood is felled during the waning moon, when the sap level in the trunk is at its lowest. This makes the wood denser and more stable. The ALTA panoramic sauna at Friedrich is made from it, as are the relaxation room and the beds in the suites. It exudes a subtle scent of Swiss stone pine and larch. Wonderfully calming.

Are treatments available in the wellness area?

Yes, from SilberQuarzit rituals and classic massages to facials and yoga. The Friedrich experts use regional products from South Tyrol. You can find all the details, prices, and packages here:

Can I reserve sun loungers?

We kindly ask you not to. It really isn’t necessary. That’s why we have 13 rooms and not 30.

What is the etiquette in the wellness area?

Calm and quiet. Take a break from your smartphone. Swimwear at the pool. Nude in the sauna, with a towel underneath your entire body. You can find the full spa etiquette here:
